On Mike Pence, the Vice President and how we first met…
(original writing by Monica Dorhoi)
Washington DC – A decade ago I met with Congressman Mike Pence at the national Press Club in Washington DC. It was for both of us a public event. Thank you to Jonathan Salant, the former President of the National Press Club. Jonathan was the moderator of the Mike Pence event. In writing this piece I contacted him about that day.
A slim 50s tall-looking man stood up to leave the room after thanking his colleagues and the audience. I was sitting very close by. It was Mike Pence.
I stood up at the same time with him as he was leaving and walked towards the door. I introduced myself and he politely responded. What really remained with me was his demeanor.
“Very good to make acquaintance Miss, he responded politely.
It took more than a decade to go back and look online for the transcripts of the event.
At the time of the event I remember the towering figure of Richard Lugar and his importance. Mike Pence looked like solid Republican and very skilled at media. And I am hardly ever wrong in my observations as PhD holder in Political Science for more than a decade.
Here is the event and the transcripts.
